Course Syllabus
When a group of Labor Union lawyers were moving into a new space in an old garment factory in Boston they wanted a space that was truly theirs. It needed to be a good environment for their staff with maximum access to daylight. They also wanted a sophisticated design that reflected their professionalism but which is understated and utilizes as much of the original mill building as possible to show their commitment to and connection with their clients: laborers and their unions.
Working with the design team they developed a design they loved. Now it's up to you to turn that design into a construction document set that will ensure the design gets built efficiently, with no costly time-delays or misunderstandings. This project focuses on clarity of documents rather than boldness of design. Because in the end it does not matter how amazing your ideas are on paper if they cannot be built correctly. It pays to know how space is built and how to tell others exactly what you want in that space. You'll be happier, the contractor will be happier, the Owner will be happier.
