As we all know, HIPAA plays a major role in the American healthcare system.  Please discuss the act and how it is implemented at a large medical center, such as North Shore Medical Center.  Who is responsible for ensuring compliance?  If a violation occurs, what is the time-frame it needs to be reported in?  What are the sanctions for not reporting?  These are not an inclusive list of questions to discuss this week, please provide a thorough response.
