Week 6 Linear Regression

  • Due Mar 13, 2019 by 5pm
  • Points 5
  • Submitting a file upload
  • Available Mar 8, 2019 at 12am - Mar 26, 2019 at 11:59pm
This assignment was locked Mar 26, 2019 at 11:59pm.

See the in class examples file named "lin_regr" and the data file named "Week6 linear data."

Data in the Week6 linear data file are:  GDP is the X variable and Residential Construction is the Y variable.

Do these four steps:

Step 1: Create a scatter plot

Step 2: Use the linest function in Excel to calculate regression statistics

Step 3:  Evaluate the regression.  Write out the regression equation and note whether the value of r-squared is "high" or not.  (Let's call 80% or more "high")

Step 4:  Prediction -- do a "what if" calculation for X = 20,000.  That is, find the corresponding y-hat (predicted y).

Submit your work as an Excel file by 5pm Wednesday.
