Welcome to Microeconomics
I’m Dr. James Lacey and am pleased to be your instructor for this term.
Our plan of study is outlined in the Course Syllabus, so please take the time to read it thoroughly and email me with any questions. In summary, each week will include assigned readings and either a quiz or short paper for homework, as well as a discussion forum. The readings and homework will provide a “deep dive” into economics, while our discussions will provide breadth. For the final project, we have a “choose your own adventure” assignment.
Here’s my claim about economics: Learning about economics might help you save money.
And the proof: The text for this class is TOTALLY FREE.
Principles of Microeconomics (2e) is included right in our Canvas course. Or if you prefer a PDF, iBook, or Kindle version, you can download it at the publisher’s website OpenStax Microeconomics Links to an external site..
Note: The textbook in Canvas is in modules titled Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and so on. When you go to a section, you might see a button telling you that a newer version is available. If so, just click that button and the section will refresh in a few seconds. One advantage of e-books is that small updates and corrections are relatively easy to implement.
To begin the course, click on Modules in the course menu to the left. But first, please watch this brief video introduction or read the transcript.
