Unit 5 Discussion

First, watch this TED Talk by Dr. Neha Narula, of MIT,  about The future of money, where she explains the basics of Bitcoin.   

Also please read this brief NPR article about Digital Currency in China and with Facebook Links to an external site..  

Then in a posting of about a paragraph or two, note some possible benefits and problems if Bitcoin or a similar digital currency became widely used in the industry or business where you work (or see yourself working in the future).  Also, in your answer, suggest the likely timeline for Bitcoin etc. to be accepted in your industry or business.  This year? This decade? Beyond 2030?  2050?   To use a local example, Whole Foods in Beverly, a couple of miles from the Endicott Campus, accepts Bitcoin.  (Not that I've used Bitcoin myself at Whole Foods, to be clear.)  Please post by January 22 and reply to two or more classmates.
