Unit 4 Discussion

First watch "The dirty secret of capitalism — and a new way forward" by Nick Hanauer (17 minutes).  Pay close attention to Hanauer's listing of "Three Assumptions of Neoliberal Economics" and "Five Rules of Thumb of New Economics."  (You may want to take notes as you watch.)  Note:  the term "Neoliberal" in economics has nothing to do with political Liberalism, and one reason for assigning this TED Talk is to familiarize students with some key concepts of Neoliberal economics.  

Then in a posting of about a paragraph or two, choose one of the Three Assumptions or one of the Five Rules of Thumb, summarize it in a sentence or two, and provide examples that either support or oppose Hanauer's argument.  To emphasize the point, you are totally free to agree or disagree with Hanauer, and the key is to provide evidence to support your views.   Post by May 12 and also respond briefly to two or more classmates.
