The purpose of this guided inquiry is to learn about input and output string streams.

• explains what string streams are and how they related to cin/cout and file IO
• declare and initialize an input string stream
• declare and initialize an output string stream
• describe some of the use cases of input/output string streams

Advanced learning objectives

By the end of our next class meeting, you should be able to:

• use input string streams to assist with reading structured data from files

Reference zyBook sections 9.3 & 9.4 as needed to complete the specified exercises. You may work with others on the exercises listed below. If you have questions, please talk with a classmate or post your question to Piazza under the "gi 27" tag.

Exercises

Attempt the following. Spend no more than 20 minutes on a challenge activity (unless you want to).

• complete at least 80% of the Participation Activities in each section 9.3 & 9.4 of the zyBook
• complete the following Challenge Activities/zyLabs—for every challenge activity you cannot pass at least one test for, please take a screen shot of your final attempt after 20 minutes and submit that here (make sure your photo includes the challenge number)
